The Bessemer Vigilance Committee (BVC) along with fellow shooters and spectators, gathers the first Sunday and the third Saturday of every month at the Cowboy Shooter’s range at the Stuckenhoff Sport Shooting Complex, just northeast of Casper. The mandatory shooter/safety meeting begins after registration at 10:45 a.m. for the Sunday shoot, and at 11:45 a.m. for the Saturday shoot. Four stages of old west fun begins at 11:00 a.m. Sundays, and 12:00 noon Saturdays. You don't have to be a BVC member to participate, but if you would like to join the BVC, just fill out and send us the WSAS registration form. Memberships are $35 for singles and $50 for couples.

Local News
The BVC hosts the annual Jailbreak three day shoot in July. Our 2011 Jailbreak was held on the 29th, 30th and 31st of July and was a great success.
Other special events include the annual Wyoming Top Gun Shootout that rotates between Wyoming Single Action Shooters (WSAS) clubs and is limited to members of the WSAS that have competed in at least six WSAS matches in the 12 months preceding the date of the Top Gun. The 2010 Top Gun match was held on August 1 in Casper and was hosted by the Bessemer Vigilance Committee. It was a warm August day, but a good time was had by all.
The BVC hosts the Lawdogs vs. Cowboys Charity shoot (All proceeds go to a charity—such as the 4-H shooting club of Casper). The 2011 match was held on June 19th. This is a fun match that is attended by a significant group of spectators! While strangers are allowed to shoot for fun, the competitors are limited to local BVC members and local law enforcement personnel. All local law enforcement personnel are invited, including T-men, T-women, G-men, G-women (Revenoor’s too) Game and Fish folks as well as sheriffs, policemen, town marshals, railroad police and the Wyoming Highway Patrol. The Cowboys shoot their usual pre-1900 firearms while the Lawdogs get to use their modern duty firearms. As is always the case in Cowboy shooting, every one (that shoots, anyway) is a winner, but the scores of the best shooters on each side are aggregated to determine whether the Cowboys or the Lawdogs get braggin’ rights for the next year.
